About Pet Friends Magazine

Welcome to Pet Friends Magazine. This website was developed to bring together a “pet community” in Northern Lower Michigan in the hopes that we can educate pet owners on responsible pet ownership and also help find homes for homeless pets. We strongly support adopting your next furry family member from a local shelter or rescue group.

This website magazine will be upbeat and focus on how people can make a difference in their community without overlooking the bad stories and conditions.

Although we might tend to have more stories about cats and dogs, we will also report on horses, hamsters, rabbits, birds, reptiles and any other pets that people have.

We primarily serve the counties of Grand Traverse, Benzie, Leelanau, Antrim, Kalkaska, Crawford and Wexford but we will also report on stories farther away that would be of interest to our readers.

The editor/publisher of Pet Friends Magazine is Jennifer Isbell. She has been a resident of Traverse City since 2001, a pet owner since the age of five and previously involved in pet therapy and animal rescue. She is a graphic designer who owned her own company in Nashville, Tennessee for several years, designing logos and promotional items for many country music artists. She was a previous board member of Petsafe Rescue Alliance and HOPE – Helping Owners with Pet Expenses.

Jennifer has been featured in the nationally known Best Friends Magazine for her efforts in animal welfare.

Sometimes the rescue groups might – Handds to the Rescue or AC PAW – or the Cherryland Humane Society. The best thing to do is to do a search on petfinder.com. Do a search on that kind of dog – and the age and sex you want. You can search a certain mile radius from your house – and petfinder will email you when something matches too.

How can I get in touch with you? I just read an article you put out about Antrim County Animal shelter. I have some first hand news as well with pictures of dogs that came out of that shelter in extremely bad condition. LadyShar2@aol.com
