Helping Michigan shelter animals is as easy as checking a box on your annual income tax return! Attorneys for Animals has launched a promotional campaign to increase public donations to Michigan’s Animal Welfare Fund (AWF), a taxpayer-funded program administered by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development that awards annual grants to the state’s animal shelters for spay/neuter, training, and equipment.
Now that tax season has arrived, please ask your local shelter, rescue, veterinarian and pet supply store to promote the Animal Welfare Fund using materials available at www.attorneysforanimals.org/michigan-animal-welfare-fund/. These materials can be printed and handed out, or used electronically to post on social media, on the web, or in e-newsletters. Consider making copies of the materials and taking them to these shelters or businesses to reach even more people. And, of course, contribute to the Animal Welfare Fund when filing your state income tax documents, and encourage your friends, relatives, and acquaintances to do so, too. Each dollar collected will be another dollar that goes to help animals in Michigan!
