From the Cadillac News
Before dog owners and their pets get to enjoy a dog park in Cadillac, those seeking to have a park built are making sure they get the right spot.
The first proposed dog park location was a grassy area behind the Cadillac Tree Zoo off Chestnut Street. A second potential site for the proposed dog park was discussed, and focus was put on converting two of the old Cadillac All Sports Association fields off Wright Street into something dog owners could use.
Now, after the most recent Cadillac Dog Park Advisory Committee meeting, it appears a third potential spot might be rising to the top.
Committee member Bill Allen said it seemed the group was leaning toward the old CASA fields. As more information was gathered, the group learned a different group has shown an interest in developing that site as a ball park. The remaining room might not be big enough for a dog park for large breeds, Allen said.
The third site is located off of 13th Street near the city’s current well field and is adjacent to Wexford County Animal Control. That site consists of 26 acres, Allen said. He added there is one other piece of property that could be a potential site, but he didn’t have details to share on it. All the sites, however, are still under discussion.
